Midway Lutheran Cemetery
also known as
Augustana Cemetery

Midway Township, Minnesota

The Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Midway used land behind the current chapel and established a cemetery in the late 1800's. While the church was established in 1874 with land and lumber being donated to establish a building the first recorded burial didn't occur until 1882.  The present building wasn't constructed until 1917.

If you have geneological questions or questions relating to the cemetery, we encourage you to please contact us using the submission button below.  We will make sure your questions get to the right individuals.

In an effort to keep our cemetery beautiful, all "Memorials" not in a moveable cemetary basket or on a plant hook must be removed by the first Monday following July 4th.   Any memorials left beyond that date will be removed.  We will not be held responsible for any lost items.

Helpful Tips
  • Don't forget to remove your baskets in the spring if you left them over the winter!  We do an annual spring clean up every year in the month of May prior to Memorial Day.  We are not responsible for lost items.
  • When placing a hook for wreaths or hanging baskets, please place them as close to the marker as you can.  This helps our grounds keeper when mowing.
  • Planting directly in the ground is prohibited!  Please use a cemetery basket or moveable planter for your live plants.  We reserve the right to remove any plants put in the ground without our prior approval.

Note:
Any digging within burial grounds without proper permission from the cemetery board of directors is a Felony under Minnesota Statute 307.08
